As a wildlife conservationist who often explores the world alongside fellow adventurers, I recently found myself at Oomukou Ryokan in Hakuba-a cozy gem just a short stroll from the Happo Bus terminal. The location is perfect for accessing the amazing ski resorts, especially Happo One, which is less than 600 meters away. My companions and I enjoyed spacious rooms with tatami mats, making us feel truly immersed in Japanese culture after our busy days on the slopes. The friendly, family-run atmosphere of the ryokan was a highlight, with the staff going above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. We especially appreciated the wonderful Asian breakfast each morning; the variety was impressive and really fueled our ski adventures. Despite a few quirks, like shared bathroom facilities, everything was impeccably clean and well-maintained. Oomukou also had excellent ski storage, making it super convenient to manage our gear. As a nature lover, I was drawn to the warm, inviting environment, which reminded me of the importance of community and comfort in any travel experience. This ryokan certainly captured that spirit, and I can't wait for the next opportunity to revisit.
